SAP Note 688131 - Windows: missing data in ST06/OS06

Symptom
No data or not all data is displayed in transactions ST06 and OS06, although the SAPOSCOL is running and there are no errors to be found in the trace files.

Other terms

Reason and Prerequisites
The problem does not have to be the SAPOSCOL here. The SAPOSCOL only collects the information that the operating system provides it. Possible reasons why the operating system does not return any data are:

1. One or several of the following files are missing in the %windir%\system32 directory:
perfc009.dat
perfd009.dat
perfh009.dat
perfi009.dat

2. The 'Disable Performance Counters' parameter is set to 1 in one or several of the following registry keys (0x00000001):
- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfDisk\Performance
- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfNet\Performance
- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfOS\Performance
- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfProc\Performance

Solution
Proceed as follows to solve the problem:

For 1: Copy the missing file(s) from another server into the directory %windir%\system32. Usually you just then have to stop the SAPOSCOL and restart it. You only need to reboot the server if there are problems with the shared memory.

For 2: Remove the parameter 'Disable Performance Counters' or set the value
to 0 (0x00000000). You must then reboot the server to activate the changes.

The Note is release-independent
